Nomenclatural History
The genus Pseudomonas was originally proposed by Migula 1894. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 5 in 1952. Yang et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2013. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Doudoroff and Palleroni in 1974. Anzai et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Holmes et al. 1986 emend. Holmes et al. 1987 pro synon. Pseudomonas Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Yang et al. 2013 in 1997. Anzai et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Holmes et al. 1987 pro synon. Pseudomonas Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Yang et al. 2013 in 1997. Young and Park established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Beijerinck 1901 emend. Johnstone 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) pro synon. Pseudomonas Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Yang et al. 2013 in 2007. Shin et al. transferred the members of Hespell 1977 (Approved Lists 1980) into this genus in 2015.
